1.12.0
Moving the needle
This release brings three bodies of work together. The Inbox has been updated to include more functions across the application. Inbound calendar sync lets you import flights from an .ics file or private calendar link, review them before they are added, and keep subscribed calendars up to date. Logbook improvements for bug fixes, as well as more regulator support (Coming soon). Scan imports, flight-time entry and currency checks are also more reliable.
New13
- Logbook:Logbook entries now expose calculation provenance so clients can distinguish written values from values filled by a ruleset and see the basis used for an assumption
- Plan:Import events from an uploaded .ics file or private calendar link, review the detected flights, and choose which ones to add as planned flights
- Plan:Subscribe to external calendars with scheduled refreshes, with imported flight changes and cancellations reflected in Pilot Lab after review
- Plan:Classify roster events during import so operating sectors can be identified separately from non-flight activities
- Inbox:Pilot Lab messages are now full conversations that pilots can read in the Inbox, with earlier one-way messages brought into the same view. This will be worked on in the coming months to be completed fully.
- Inbox:Pilots can reply to Pilot Lab from the app, with closed conversations reopening when a reply is sent
- Inbox:Contact Us now creates a conversation in the Inbox while continuing to send the support email
- Inbox:Staff can manage pilot conversations in the admin console, including sending messages, closing or reopening conversations, and starting a conversation by email
- Inbox:Pilots can download their conversations or remove them from their Inbox, and staff can delete conversations from the console
- Inbox:Conversations can show a reference to a related logbook entry, import, or correction when the pilot can access it
- Inbox:A daily email digest can list unopened Inbox items, with separate switches for each message category
- Inbox:The Inbox now tells pilots when a scan upload has finished reading and is ready for review
- Account:Pilots are congratulated in the app when they earn a Founding Member seat
Improvements9
- Logbook:New Zealand flight calculations now use clearer policy-based allocation for role credit, engine class, cross-country, IFR and command-practice time, including keeping command-practice hours out of the PIC total when they are recorded separately
- Logbook:Authority-specific logbook services and administrator ruleset screens now follow the workspace authority instead of assuming New Zealand
- Plan:Imported flights retain their source and provenance, use the source event's date, and are kept out of that source's outbound calendar feed to prevent duplicates
- Plan:Flights imported from a calendar are kept out of outbound calendar publishing and the .ics feed for that source unless you explicitly enable them
- Progress:Getting Started and Progression now point to the correct screens, refresh when a syllabus changes, and work correctly on phones
- Inbox:Inbox messages received while a pilot is elsewhere in the app now show a toast that opens the Inbox
- Imports:FLYLOG imports ask which timezone the export used and apply that timezone consistently, including dates across midnight
- Imports:Scan import shows why lines need review, displays page totals even when they cannot be checked, and explains refused lines in plain language
- Imports:Imported and scanned flights use the engine class stated on the flight line, while rotorcraft are kept out of single- and multi-engine totals
Fixes24
- Logbook:Saving a draft flight no longer treats engine-filled landings and totals as values the pilot wrote, so changing a flight from day to night or correcting its details recalculates them correctly
- Logbook:Changing a draft's total time no longer turns separately recorded command-practice time into PIC time
- Logbook:Flight autofill now updates draft entries only, with versioning and an audit record protecting finalized flights
- Logbook:A failed instrument check no longer renews instrument-rating currency
- Logbook:Instrument-rating currency now has one consistent verdict, counts only recorded instrument time, and no longer treats IFR time flown in VMC as instrument time
- Logbook:Workspaces without applicable currency rules are no longer evaluated against New Zealand defaults
- Logbook:Passenger currency now counts blank take-off fields consistently with recorded landings instead of marking pilots out of currency solely because take-offs were not entered
- Logbook:Flight-review expiry dates written by a pilot are now preserved; the system may suggest an expiry but no longer overwrites it with a New Zealand calculation
- Logbook:Certified logbook exports now use the workspace's authority instead of always producing a New Zealand CAA form
- Logbook:Pilot type-authorisation lists now include every authorisation held and identify its issuing authority
- Logbook:The logbook Display menu now shows only options supported by the selected layout
- Logbook:Selecting a crew member in the entries table opens only their profile card instead of also opening the entry peek
- Logbook:Clicking a pinned year band in the entries table now scrolls to that year
- Logbook:Typed flight times and Hobbs readings are saved once and reject impossible values without creating false conflict warnings
- Logbook:Changing flight times no longer leaves the total time blank or creates inconsistent credited hours
- Logbook:A failed labels request in the entry panel is handled without producing an unhandled error
- Plan:Edits made in Google Calendar shortly after a flight is pushed are now retained, and missed changes can be recovered during reconciliation
- Plan:iPhone Calendar can now load Pilot Lab subscription feeds that request the standard calendar response format
- Plan:Calendar refreshes no longer poll former members or paused sources, and review results remain safe when reopened
- Plan:Turning calendar publishing back on restores the layer's flights, while cancellations and removals remain correctly reflected in the connected calendar
- Plan:The navigation-data map retries when its provider is throttled and falls back to the last good tile instead of returning an error
- Progress:Pilots who log a flight before choosing a starting path can now complete Getting Started and qualify for a Founding Member seat
- Imports:A single invalid line no longer prevents the rest of an import review page from being saved, and partially imported pages remain clearly marked for review
- Imports:Scan pages are checked and rotated before reading so an incorrectly oriented page is not charged for a second read
