1.3.0Breaking
v1.3.0
This release adds a Help Centre with interactive product guides, expands the logbook and club workflows, and makes the AI assistant more capable and flexible. It also improves billing, importing, privacy, and several everyday reliability issues across the app.
This release includes a breaking change.
New9
- A new Help Centre at docs.pilotlab.app provides product guides, interactive demos using fictional data, contextual links from key screens, and What's new updates
- The AI assistant now supports saved prompts and built-in flight-focused prompts, opened by typing / in the chat panel or Home ask bar
- Pilots can connect their own encrypted OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini key for assistant use, with clear provider and model validation
- The assistant can import crew briefing sheet photos as draft flights, match them to aircraft, and add the reviewed flight to the logbook
- Endorsement imports now let you correct the recognised type, wording, pilot, signer, date, and other fields before keeping the record, including an Other type for endorsements not in the catalogue
- Club administrators get a rebuilt member profile with account statements, flights, bookings, notes, documents, qualifications, activity, status indicators, reminders, and permission-aware tabs
- Clubs can define additional operating rules, review bookings against those rules, and manage on-the-day flight authorisations and check flights
- Pricing and checkout now show specific billing errors and confirm Stripe subscriptions after returning from checkout, including a clear cancelled or still-processing state
- Eligible pilots can earn Founding Member standing through the Getting Started programme, receive a membership number, and see their locked price and available benefits
Improvements5
- Assistant access is now available to workspace members through a monthly turn allowance, while Pro increases the allowance and personal or workspace provider keys can take precedence over the Pilot Lab keyBreaking
- Club member administration is now organised inside the member profile, and the separate Club Users and manual permissions editing pages redirect to the profile permissions tabBreaking
- Club member visibility and editing now follow module capabilities and record-access permissions rather than only the workspace administrator role
- Logbook authority and endorsement handling now stay tied to the selected aviation authority instead of silently falling back to New Zealand CAA rules
- Founding Members keep their eligible founding subscription price when prices change, while cancelling and returning no longer incorrectly restores the founding rate
Fixes7
- Opening What's New no longer reloads pilots through sign-in or repeatedly shows the same unread update
- Imported logbook entries can now be completed without requesting an edit reason for each field that was originally blank, and aircraft traces are imported only after a successful save
- OCR failures caused by the service exhausting its response budget are now identified as a Pilot Lab issue instead of asking pilots to rescan a usable photo
- AI assistant tool calls using newer GPT-5 models no longer fail because of unsupported reasoning or temperature parameters
- Club member documents now open through secure signed links, and member type selections are saved and used for expiry and attention tracking
- A valid club flight authorisation is no longer shown as still required, and club rule checks now use the aircraft and pilot actually involved in the booking
- Founding Member claims and welcomes are now protected against duplicate awards when first-flight completion or multiple requests happen at the same time
