Founding Members

The first pilots to finish the programme become Founding Members.

Founding Member is a standing, earned once and kept for good. Finish the onboarding programme while places remain and it is attached to your account permanently. It does not make you a Pro subscriber. It does get you the founding rate if you become one.

What you need to do

Create a free account and the Getting Started checklist is waiting on your home page. That checklist is the whole programme. There is nothing else to sign up for.

The checklist as it looks on your home page. Pick a row to jump to it below. Set your flight defaults arrives ticked. You chose your country and home airport during onboarding, before the checklist appears.

When you finish

Pilotlab claims a place for you automatically, if one is still open. You get a notification and a welcome email with your Founding Member number. To see how far through you are, open Settings and find Founding Member on the Profile tab.

  1. Import your logbook

If you already keep a logbook, bring it across. Upload a CSV or Excel export, or photograph the paper pages. Pilotlab shows you what it read and saves nothing until you have checked it.

Ticks when you commit an import.

  2. Add a flight

No logbook to bring? Add one flight by hand. Start a draft, fill in what you know, and come back to the rest later.

Ticks when a flight is in your logbook, and a draft is enough. Importing ticks this row too, and adding a flight ticks the import row.

  3. Understand your totals

Open your logbook and see how your hours are added up from the flights you entered, under the rules of the authority you fly with.

Ticks when you have been through it.

  4. Optional

    Track what you actually fly

Some flying needs columns a standard logbook lacks. Add your own fields for sling, spray, top-dressing or VTA time in Settings.

Optional. It does not affect your place.

  5. Optional

    See where you're up to

This row appears if you chose a training syllabus when you set up. Tick off the exercises you have already flown, so your progress begins in the right place.

Optional. It does not affect your place.

  6. Keep a note

Write one note in Notes. A briefing, a debrief, or something from a flight you want to remember.

Ticks when you have written one note.

  7. Store a document

Add one file to Documents, such as a copy of your licence or medical, or a reference you want to hand.

Ticks when you have stored one file.

What a Founding Member gets

The badge, the early access and the line to the team come with the standing and cost nothing. The founding rate is different. It is a price on Pro, so it applies once you subscribe.

Founding Member and Pro

No. A Founding Member is not a Pro subscriber, and earning the standing does not turn Pro on. Everything in Pro still needs a subscription, for a Founding Member as for any other pilot. What the standing gives you is the founding rate when you take one.
